Course Overview

Each year, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) publishes an annual Risk Outlook report. In the report published at the end of July 2017, one of the risks which the SRA identified is related to the access to legal services and the impact on the profession.

This session is intended as an overview of the guidance provided by the SRA, and examines some steps which can be implemented, to help both provide and increase access to legal services.

Delivered by experienced Law Hound lecturer Sue Edwards, this bite-size course will consider the following:

  • The current situation regarding access to legal services
  • What the SRA proposes in order to “create a more open, modern and competitive legal services sector”
  • Practical steps suggested by the SRA, including fixed costs, unbundling, using the right person for the job
  • How services are currently provided and what changes can be made

  • This course provides 0.5 – 1 CPD points (depending on length of time spent reviewing the supporting documentation).
