Disciplinary and grievance issues can be a major encumbrance for employers and employees alike, so it is essential that clear procedures are in place to ensure that employers act consistently and professionally in both grievance and disciplinary cases.

During this course experienced lecturer and former HR professional Kathy Daniels will provide guidance in respect of what grievance and disciplinary procedures should be followed within the work place and will offer hints and tips to assist viewers in practice.

In addition, Kathy will encourage viewers to consider why people break the rules, why punishment might fail and if necessary, what punishments can be used in the workplace

    • Understand the procedure for fairly handling grievances, how to conduct investigations and the stages of discipline.
    • Feel confident when managing a disciplinary hearing

    • Know how to conduct yourself throughout the disciplinary procedure
    • Be aware of the issues to consider when grievances are raised and the procedure to follow in order to handle such matters fairly

About Instructor - Kathy Daniels

Kathy is a Teaching Fellow at Aston University, lecturing in employment law and employee relations. After a career in HR, in the manufacturing sector, she now writes extensively on HR related topics, and specifically on employment law. Kathy has written an employment law textbook which is currently in its third edition, and also writes a broad range of materials for organisations such as the CIPD. In addition, she is a Lay Member of the Employment Tribunal, sitting in Birmingham.
