The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) is designed to update the Data Protection Act 1998 to provide “greater transparency, enhanced rights for citizens and increased accountability”.

During this bite-size session experienced lecturer Robert Edwards of Law Hound will provide viewers with a brief overview of the main changes for smaller businesses; that is any business with less than 250 employees.

This session will consider the following:

  • The scope of GDPR and changes to the definition of personal data
  • Lawful processing and consent
  • Providing information to a data subject/individual
  • The individual’s rights including of access, rectification, erasure, to restrict processing, to object and data portability
  • Accountability and governance

About Instructor - Robert Edwards

Robert Edwards has a long history of providing legal training in criminal, immigration and mental health law.

Bob, now a law lecturer, started his legal career in the armed forces in counter intelligence before his 2nd career commenced in 1996. He has lectured extensively to students studying the ILEX, LLB and for CPE and LPC qualifications, trained the Legal Services Commission and Court Service as well as the RAF police force. Bob's forces career took him across the world advising on various Immigration and Criminal Law matters. He has a natural ability to explain the complex in simple terms.
