Course Overview

During this bite size webinar experienced solicitor-advocate Lisa Collins will provide viewers with guidance on ‘special reasons’; a unique circumstance relevant to the commission of, but which does not constitute a defence to, a motoring offence, but which can have a direct and positive impact on the client’s sentence.

Consideration will be given to the circumstances which the court will consider when determining whether a special reason applies and the strict criteria which is used when making this decision.  Viewers will also receive an overview of the correct practice and procedure to use when handling such cases.

  • This course provides 0.5 – 1 CPD point (depending on length of time spent considering the discussion questions and completing the evaluation form)
