Cash seizure proceeds of crime
Under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) 2002, the police, immigration and customs officers all have power to seize cash if it is believed to have criminal origins or a criminal future. This webinar will provide viewers with proceeds of crime guidance and sets out the powers of officers to enter, search, seize, search, question then hold the money.
During this session solicitor-advocate and part-time District Judge Olwen Davies will examine the common errors made by investigators when undertaking cash seizure and will consider confiscation orders and POCA confiscation timetables in greater detail.
A trial of the issue of forfeiture is to analogous to a civil trial and this webinar will discuss what advocates appearing on either side at trial may expect.
The webinar comes complete with authorities and a problem question to solve to consolidate your knowledge.
