Course Overview

The field of medical and clinical negligence is complex not only in terms of law but also emotionally demanding nature of the claims involved. Those who practice in this area must have both the legal and medical knowledge to handle such claims in a competent and sensitive manner.

This series of webinars is aimed at those who are new to the field of clinical/medical negligence work, and will offer an introduction to birth injuries and the surrounding issues to those who wish to move into this fascinating area of litigation.

    This course will examine in detail the risk factors in pregnancy, what tests should be offered in pregnancy and the risks which these tests can pose.

    This course will explore the injuries that a mother can suffer during child birth and will provide practical tips to assist the lawyer. 

    Guide to What Injuries Can a Child Suffer in Child Birth?

    This course will discuss the injuries, both the physical injuries and brain damage, that a child can suffer during birth and will provide practical tips to assist the lawyer.

    Guide to Cerebral Palsy in Birth Injury Claims

    This course will provide an in depth analysis of cerebral palsy as it applies to birth injuries.

    An Introduction to the NHS Litigation Authority’s Approach to Managing Risk

    The NHSLA administers the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts and produces the clinical Risk management standards in maternity issues. The course examines the standards and the support mechanisms in place.

    This series of courses will be delivered by members of Law Hound’s experienced lecturers; Steph Barber, Sue Edwards and Steve Green.
