Course Overview

During this 20-minute bite-size session, lecturer and solicitor Safda Mahmood will examine how recent Participation Directions have changed the way in which family law cases are now run.

Safda will review the public funding changes to The Civil Legal Aid (Procedure) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2017, which came into force on 8th January 2018, and the impact which this has had in so far as establishing domestic abuse. Issues relating to divorce and disillusion, will also be discussed.

In addition, viewers will be encouraged to consider the way in which certain court-ordered measures or special measures, including intermediaries and intermediary assessments, may be paid for in family cases.

Safda is a senior solicitor, with a public authority, having had practiced in both Private Practice and Local Government. Safda is on the Law Society Children Panel and specialises in Children Law and Adoption. He delivers training across the country and writes regularly for various journals including Family Law Journal, Legal Executives Journal and Law Society Bulletin.
